WHAT IS THE
CONVERSATION COMPASS?

Before you have the conversation, prepare for it.

The Conversation Compass is a simple guided practice that helps you prepare for one conversation by exploring four universal directions.

Together, on a single blank sheet of paper or in a doc, we will prepare for the conversation you know you need to have.

You'll explore:

Context: What has brought you to this moment?

Clarity: Why does this conversation matter, and what most needs to be shared?

Courage: What is this conversation asking of you?

Consideration: What may matter most to the other person, and how might you best approach them?

The video is only 13 minutes long and with a little reflection time should take around 20 minutes to complete. By the end, you'll return to your original clarity with a deeper understanding of yourself, the other person, and the relationship between you.

You can also undertake powerful personal work through Cairo Rha’s book, The Arc of Your Lips: Communication, Inside Out.

The book offers a map of the inner and outer ecology of communication: the scripts we carry, the nervous-system patterns that shape our responses, the questions we ask, the ways we listen, the presence we bring, and the speech that follows.

Inside the book, you’ll explore how to:

  • Recognize the patterns that follow you across relationships
  • Stay more regulated when intensity rises
  • Listen beneath the surface of what is said
  • Ask questions that open rather than close
  • Speak with more honesty, courage, and care
  • Meet difference without losing connection

Through ARC — Awareness, Regulation, Communication — and LIPS — Listening, Inquiry, Presence, Speech — it supports you to meet the conversations that shape your life with more awareness, courage, care, and skill.

Read it as a companion to one-to-one work, and as a guide for the conversations that life is asking you to have.
